Suo Zhen Hai was born omJanuary 21, 1944 in Daying Village in Yaoyang village, Hebei Province. He graduated from junior middle school in 1963 and did art creation in the Cultural Studio of Yaoyang County. During this time he became acquainted with and received instruction from, many famous artists from Bejing, Tianjin and the provincial capitol. In 1971 he, Liu Ziji and Liu Shuangqing visited Wang Xisan in Yang Village. All three of these became part of the first two groups of apprentices of Wang Xisan. In his later years, Suo developed his own style of impressionistic painting frequently framing a dragonfly, cricket or some other insect. Suo was a prolific painter through a several year battle with cancer prior to his death at age 62 in March of 2006.
