I purchased this bottle from Jackie Locantore,
whose great grandparents, Don Nichols and his wife,
Anna Cubberly, were missionaries to Kuling (Lushan)
China with the Methodist Mission Society in the late
1800's through the outbreak of the Boxer Rebellion.
Jackie's grandmother was born in China in 1889. It is
believed that the family brought this bottle back from
China with them which would make the dating of 1902
very plausible. Furthermore Jackie believes she
remembers this bottle as a child in the 1950's.
The best evidence, however, is the picture on the
left taken of Jackie's grandmother in 1963 showing
this bottle on her curio shelf with other of her
treasures from China.
